Branching off of my first wishlist post, I decided to focus on Bloody Marys found in cities I have not yet covered. When choosing the Bloody Marys within this post, I realized I traveled to THREE of the cities in 2014. So I kind of messed up by not going to any of these locales for a refreshingly spicy cocktail. Ah… but the new year brings you to new places, doesn’t it? Or it’s supposed to at least. If I could cross off a point on my actual life wishlist (not my Bloody Mary wishlist), I would go on a legitimate BLOODY MARY TOUR, in which I would traverse the country in my Trailblazer searching for the best Bloody Marys and exploring the secrets of America along the way. Anyways, my “Bloody Mary Wishlist” #2 takes us cross-country, from Miami and Atlanta up to New York City, then across the U.S. to Las Vegas and up to Seattle.

THE NOOK: Atlanta, GA

The Nook’s Bloody Best looks like a meat lovers dream. I am a meat lover, so this Bloody is my dream, as it is garnished with steak, bacon, AND a beef straw. It’s made with 6 oz. of Absolut Peppar vodka (that’s 4 shots if you didn’t want to do the conversion from oz. to shots yourself) and is 32 oz. in total. That’s a BIG BOY. From reading reviews, The Nook’s homemade Bloody mix is apparently really good, as well, and the Bloody Best is garnished with tater tots, a hard-boiled egg, a slice of toast, pepperoncinis, jalapenos, lemon, and lime on top of the meat fixin’s. On a side note, they have a breakfast dish called the spicy chicken and waffles, which consists of fried chicken with a black bean and jalapeno corn waffle, along with Jameson butter maple syrup. Yum.

TODD ENGLISH P.U.B: Las Vegas, NV

When I was last in Las Vegas, I did not do much dining outside of my weekend home, aka the MGM Grand. So I kind of screwed up because I have heard the Bloody scene in Vegas is one for the books. If I were to go to Vegas again (I need at least a year break before my return to Sin City), I would try one of Todd English P.U.B.’s Bloody Marys. Apparently there are many different ways to get a Bloody at Todd English’s– you can either order one off the regular menu, one off the specials list, or create your own with 3, 5, or 7 toppings. The one pictured that I read about is called All About Mary, which is made with horseradish infused vodka and looks like it is garnished with shrimp, a chicken wing, a pub slider, salami, green beans, olives, cheese, and a few more additions. I’ll take it.

YARDBIRD SOUTHERN TABLE & BAR: Miami, FL

Yardbird’s Bloody Yardbird sounds like it’s truly a Bloody with a twist. Instead of vodka, this Southern-inspired cocktail is made with bacon infused bourbon and a house mix and is served in a classic mason jar. Garnishes include house-made jerky, pickled okra, and a filthy pepper. Yardbird also has lots of home cooked Southern dishes– I LOVE chicken and waffles so I would definitely order the chicken n’ watermelon n’ waffles (think fried chicken with chilled, spiced watermelon on a cheddar cheese waffle, with honey hot sauce and bourbon maple syrup).

PRUNE: New York City, NY

I had read about Prune in an article a few weeks ago and how the owner, Chef Gabrielle Hamilton, created a Bloody Mary-inspired dinner cocktail. While that cocktail sounds like something I absolutely need to try, I also want to try Prune’s Chicago Matchbox Bloody Mary (and no, not just because I am from the Chicago area). The Chicago Matchbox is made with homemade lemon vodka and Sacramento tomato juice, while it is garnished with caper berries, pickled brussels sprouts, green beans, baby white turnips, and radishes. This sounds like a healthy serving of curing my hangover. Prune also has roughly 8 other Bloody variations to try.

HATTIE’S HAT: Seattle, WA

Next time I am in Seattle, I have to try Hattie’s Hat’s (wow, word jumble) Smoked Salmon Mary. I have to try this because a.) I love smoked salmon and had no idea smoked salmon vodka existed and b.) I feel it is necessary to eat as much seafood and seafood-inspired things as I can when I am in cities near the water. I could not find much information on this Salmon Mary so you call it, but I do know it contains Alaska Distillery’s Smoked Salmon Vodka. I’m sold. I even want to buy a bottle of this vodka now.

That’s it for the Bloody Mary Wishlist #2! If you can think of any other Bloody Marys I absolutely must try, please leave a comment 🙂
